Course Description
In this course, we are going to build a prototype for an autonomous drone-based water quality management system. We will use the Durnholzer See (Lago di Valdurna) next to our hotel to collect water samples from buoys. The samples should be collected every day and flown back to the laboratory based at our hotel. In the future, we plan to deploy the system to control the water quality of Lake Nokoué, in Benin, West Africa, which regularly suffers from water pollution.
The following topics will be addressed:
- Autonomous drone flight
- Search algorithms for drone fleets
- Software patterns for drones
- Self-organization of drone fleet coordination
- Decentralized peer-to-peer architecture
- Near-field communication (NFC)
- Geographic Information System data
