Essence, an OMG Standard, delivers essential, universal elements found in all Software Engineering (SE) endeavors and a language to describe and extend these elements and their use in concrete practices tailored to teams’ needs. Its Kernel separates the stable What and Why from the more adaptable How. It provides an essential thinking framework facilitating the adoption and customization of practices and methods supporting educating and training for the future.
This workshop provides a unique opportunity to learn about the latest developments in Essence and its adoption in education and training, to meet researchers, educators, and trainers, reporting on their experiences and lessons learned using Essence. It is the place to exchange thoughts, discuss perspectives, and form valuable collaborations.

Workshop for Automotive Software Systems Engineering Education (WASSEE’20)
Organizers: Katja Auernhammer, Ramin Tavakoli Kolagari
[ workshop material | overview slides ]
In the advent of autonomous driving the industry longs for appropriately educated employees in a wider range of fields than ever before. To meet the need of the industry academic teachers and members of the industry have to communicate to each other. This workshop should provide a chance to for both sides to meet, exchange requirements and experiences and work out an example lecture according to industrial requirements and academical feasibility. To our knowledge there has not been any automotive software engineering workshop focusing on the collaboration between academics and industry in facing adequate education.

Workshop on Games for Software Engineering Education and Training (SE-Games’20)
Organizers: Thorsten Haendler, Gustaf Neumann
The SE-Games workshop is intended to serve as a platform for researchers and practitioners from the fields of software engineering, SE teaching and training as well as game development, who share the common goal of improving the methods of teaching and training software engineering by designing and applying game-based environments such as serious games, game-based learning, and gamification.
In particular, the workshop calls for proposals of new game designs and implementations, discussions of novel ideas or challenges, and experience reports. Driven by the paper presentations, we will discuss the approaches and ideas in a highly-collaborative atmosphere. The key to these interactions is again the use of playful and game-based techniques to further develop the proposed games together.
